Next, it doesn't do the greatest job of extracting juice and separating from pulp. They're also slow, and expensive. Here's the unit to get. At the top end are mastication juicers, ones with an auger that slowly pressure grinds everything, including rinds, wheat grass and even pine needles, into oblivion. Overall, you really need to weigh your juicing needs, and expectations before buying any juicer. If you then determine that this type of unit is for you, there is no reason not to buy the Breville JE900 (or similar) these units are so well made by an obviously high-end company, you'll easily make gallons and gallons of juice, and they'll last you a very long time. But they are also fast. This unit is so powerfully fast, you can quickly put stacks of several carrots, several stocks of celery, entire small apples, large chunks of other fruit down it's throat and it barely even slows down, just rapidly pulverizing them with amazing speed.
And not just comparing to mastication juicers. You;ll notice as soon as you start the thing up and it winds up to speed that this is not a toy. Most people also don't use their juicer as much as they think they will, because juicing takes time to shop for, set up, and clean. I guess it's the assurance of robust power, but annoying after a while. The Breville units are also very well built. They'll work great for most people, but the Breville JE900 (and similar units) are more robust at their core design.
This one is maybe the fastest of all. You lose more fruit this way, as a lot of excessive pulp is spit out, and the units tend to be loud. This Breville unit is of this type. If you're up for all that, then this is a fine, well made juicer. First, let's talk about some juicing myths and facts: Juicing does not save you money. The also have larger openings, and can juice faster than you can believe possible. But it does have a very nice foam stopper in it's container. It takes some practice.
Then, there are high speed centrifugal juicers with a blade that makes zillions of dicing cuts to obliterate fruit and veggies, then filter it, and extract the pulp from the juice. You're better off buying concentrate if that's all you want. It's a different design than some of the Omegas, which have more stainless steel, but works faster than any of those I've seen. All of which takes time, uses counter space, and makes a mess. There are three basic kinds of juicers. You'll get a fair amount of wet pulp with this juicer, more than the Juiceman and Lalanne (which does maybe the best job of the three here at this, but has it's drawbacks too).
If you have decent kitchen space, and a large dishwasher, and don't mind the clean up, then it won't be a problem for you. Juicing is a little bit of an art form, you can't just toss any fruit/veggie mix in and have it work. I've even had entire berries just spit right through, with only some slices chipped off and juiced, which is disappointing. There's nothing wrong with the Juiceman, or Jack Lalanne juicers, which are similar designs. All juicers are messy to some extent, but this one a little more than normal.
Why am I only giving this juicer 4 stars. The Breville sometimes spins so fast that it leaves chunks of fruit and veggies in the pulp section or in the unit. If all you're going to make is the occasional cup of orange, grapefruit or lemon juice, these work fine.Compared to others in the centrifugal grouping, the Breville is near or at the top of the line. Finally, it's messy. of apples in 15 minutes. Along these lines, it's juicing of fruits such as apples leaves a lot of foam that some other juicers do a better job of grinding up.
People don't realize you're going to have to remove apple stems, peel oranges, cut watermelon, remove apricot and peach pits, etc. First, it's fairly loud. Finally, there are small citrus juicers. These juicers extract the most amount of juice, and are healthiest and most efficient. You want to go through an entire crate, (yes, crate).
it seems that it spins so fast that most of the fruit/vegetable gets chucked out the discard container. maybe i just got a dud. I actually got this one back a few years ago. i was surprised to see such an overall good review. regardless, i'm in the market looking for something that doesn't waste so much. and haven't liked it. but just delt with it.
Nice looking. Easy to clean. Highly recommend to purchase it. Very practical and efficient machine. Easy to ensemble.
Wonderful product. I freeze the pulp in bags and leave them for the animals when I go into the woods or throw the pulp in the compost bin. This is a terrific product. It is so easy to clean and does a great job getting all of the juices out of my fruits and vegetables.
After 2.5 years of use, the juice is coming out pulpier. Bits of fruit and veggies do escape, splattering every which way. Not good. I'm really surprised for all the praise. There are too many parts to clean -- longest clean-up time in my 20+ years of juicing.
